In the spirit of sharing, head coach Vaz Pinto says he will share the prize money he won with players and technical staff after bagging the coach of the month award (for the month of May).
This is coming after a series of good performances that saw the Portuguese lead the team to pull an 11-match unbeaten streak in all competitions – that included the journey to the Football Kenya Federation Cup final set for this coming Sunday.
The coach gives it to the whole team and says it’s teamwork, not just individual work and he will share the Sh50,000 prize money with all his players and technical bench staff as well as donating 10 per cent of the money to a charity home (Kibera With Love).
“It’s teamwork and my players put a lot of commitment and because of that, we all deserve this… I feel good for winning this award but it’s for the whole team… without the players, I can’t win this – congratulations to them.
“We grow as a team and work as a team and I will share the prize money with all players and technical staff after donating 10 per cent of it to a charity home called Kibera With Love,” says Vaz Pinto.
After a poor start to the season, Vaz Pinto took over and has led us to an incredible rise on the league table and his focus remains on winning the title.
“We can be champions but we need to focus… if we think step by step and game by game, we can still be champions at the end of the league.”
We are placed fourth on the log standings with 38 points, six adrift league leaders Tusker and we take on Bandari tomorrow (Wednesday) in a league fixture at Utalii grounds.
