Hunt for points continues as we host Sofapaka

Coach Vaz Pinto will be hoping to win his seventh straight league match when his charges face-off with Sofapaka on tomorrow (Sunday) as from 3pm at Thika Stadium.

Sofapaka were the third victims in his impressive six games winning streak as we beat them 2-1 at the tail end of our first leg fixtures – South Sudanese Tito Okello and youngstar Alpha Onyango were the goal-scorers of the day in Wundanyi.

It was ample revenge against a side that had beat us 3-1 in the return fixture of the previous season, aided by the fact that we managed to silence their midfielder Lawrence Juma that had decamped from our side to join the opposition at the beginning of the season.

Another win will bolster our chances of catching up with the league leaders KCB and pushing for an unprecedented fifth consecutive league title.

While encounters against Sofapaka have generally been tight for us, we boast of a better head-to-head record having won 13 of our 25 league encounters and only losing 4 and scoring 31 goals while only conceding 19 in the process.

This is a fixture that Sammy Onyango has generally relished, scoring four goals against the ‘small cats’, – the most by one player in this fixture.
