Following an indifferent start to the league, we take on Kericho’s Zoo FC hoping a win will bring the confidence back. We have so far won three and lost three of our six league matches.
Currently placed 10th on the log, a win against the Kericho side that is yet to taste victory could see us move up to 7th. However, as coach Vaz Pinto notes: “All games against us are difficult because opponents know the quality of Gor Mahia squad… they always give their best to win and we respect these teams…” and the team will need to be at its best to win the match.
Head to Head
Gor Mahia is yet to lose a league game against the Kericho side, having won 7 of their 8 previous meetings so far while drawing 1 and scoring 22 goals while only conceding 6 in the process.
Sammy Onyango is the club’s leading scorer in this fixture with 3 goals with former Zoo man Nicholas Kipkirui having scored 2 for Gor Mahia and previously scoring 1 goal for Zoo in this fixture as well.
Vaz Pinto Speaks
While not offering any excuses for the disappointing result over the weekend, the gaffer notes: “Three days are not enough to prepare well but we did what is possible to make the team ready for tomorrow (against Zoo Kericho).
The team is not in the best shape, we require more time to train but that’s the schedule and we need results to continue giving confidence to the team.”
