Muguna: We know what to do in return leg

Despite going down 2-1 to APR of Rwanda in the first leg of CAF preliminary clash in Kigali, Rwanda, team captain Kenneth Muguna remains optimistic that all is not lost and focus should now be on the return leg.

Two goals in each half gave the military side a slim edge but an important away goal habours good hopes for us in the do or die crunch fixture scheduled for this coming weekend.

APR got the lead in the 9th minute through Olivier Niyonzima before Kenneth Muguna cancelled it out with a neat free kick in the 28th minute. The host got their second goal in the 62nd minute when defender Andrew Juma’s efforts to clear a cross ended in the net.

Muguna says focus is now fully on the return leg not the past match in which they recognise their mistakes and will be keen to work on them.

“The match in Kigali is now a past chapter… we have to focus ahead on the return leg and stop talking about a match that’s already played. We recognise our mistakes and we know what to do in the return leg,” Captain Muguna noted.

Defender Phillemon Otieno also echoes the same sentiments: “The team spirit is high and the away goal will motivate us…. we expect to give our very best in return leg at home. We know if we win that match, it will give us a good platform to start off the season on a high.”

The winner of the two-legged match on goal aggregate will either meet Algeria’s CR Belouizdad or Libya’s El Nasr in the First Round of this competition.
