Pamzo confident of turning tables against APR

Gor Mahia stand-in coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo has faith his side can overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit against Rwandan APR in tomorrow’s CAF Champions League preliminary round return leg match at Nyayo National Stadium.

The team must either win with a high scoring result or with a clean sheet in the 4pm fixture for them to progress to the next stage of the competition.

But though the team is motivated by the away goal, our former defender believes the 19-time Kenyan League champions will only advance to the next round if they defend well and take their chances.

“We are all motivated with the result and away goal we scored in Kigali last weekend. And with what I have seen in the team so far, I believe we can qualify to the next round,” said Omollo after today’s training at Nyayo National Stadium.

“We know how important that match is to us and the good thing is that Benson Omala is back in the team. We all know what the youngster can bring to the team; energy and lethality. He will be key for us tomorrow.

“But we need to have a top-class defending and make good use of our chances. When we played in Kigali, we looked dangerous and created several chances and I believe tomorrow will not be different. If we do the right things tomorrow we will win the match.”
